Make sure to see our video below for more tips on how to make White Rice.

How To Cook Rice On The Stove

Now that you know the right water to rice ratio to prepare white rice, let’s dig into one of the most common cooking methods for rice: on the stove.

The process is rather simple, measure your water, pour it into a pot and bring it to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and stir in the measured rice. Cover with a lid and simmer for 20 minutes or until all of the liquid is absorbed.

How to Cook Rice in The Microwave

If you don’t have a stovetop available, it can be a lifesaver to learn how to cook white rice in the microwave. Make sure you are using a microwave-safe dish to stir your measured rice and water. Heat at maximum capacity for 5 minutes, then reduce to 50% and heat for 15 more minutes. Let that cool for a minute, fluff with a fork and enjoy!

For best results, do not microwave more than 1 cup of rice per batch.

Recipe Suggestions

When cooked, the extra long grains remain loose and separate for a fluffy consistency perfect for any meal of the day!

Variations

We also offer Organic White Rice for those choosing to live a more organic lifestyle! And, you might want to try Parboiled Extra Long Grain White Rice, which is rice that has been partially boiled in the husk, making it a slightly more whole grain alternative to traditional White Rice.

White Rice vs. Brown Rice

White Rice is rice that has the bran and cereal layer removed, while Brown Rice has both of those still intact making it 100% whole grain and giving it a more subtle nutty flavor while White Rice has a more neutral flavor. This is also the reason for the difference in color of these two rice varieties. For more information, see our guide to different rice varieties.
